still progressing on philosophy of right (and by progressing I mean I want to scream out the window every 2 minutes).
and I actually did scream when my TA told me (electronically) that I should be explaining “how the dialectic reflects as a trope Hegels conviction of the interdependence between reality, truth, dialectical method, freedom, and justice”…
ARRGHHHHHH!
this has got to be the most obscure course ever. the class is Sustainable Development. the aim is to contrast conventional notions of sustainable development against post-marxist theories of justice. we’re reading Kant, Hegel, Marx, Adorno, Horkheimer, Merleau-Ponty, Derrida, Sloterdijk. we’re watching films: Oberst Redl, Taxi Driver, Themroc, W.R. – Misterije organizma, La Battaglia di Algeri, El Laberinto del fauno, 羅生門, Dekalog.
seems like fun. if I abstract myself out of the current situation that is. wondering how it’s possible to make Hegel comprehensible via powerpoint and then in a research paper.
my only saving grace is this.

I read some Hegel once, or attempted to, anyway. Good luck.
I didn’t get very far… though some translations are a little more manageable than others, I seem to recall.
