my second time out playing tennis since being injured 7 months ago, and it felt sooo good. despite the occasional hitting out of the court, I was feeling the sweetspot, even on my (lately) erratic two-handed backhand. and it was lovely being out in the sun: but my cheeks are a bit pink now!
after running around all day I had some friends over to make jiaozi and carrot cake and icecream. never made the dumplings vegetarian before, but it turned out fine: shiitake mushrooms, carrots, bamboo shoots, scallions, nappa cabbage, garlic, ginger, and some egg to bind it together. and one can never go wrong with homemade icecream for dessert… ahh the decadence.

Aren’t homemade dumplings the best? Dumplings-making parties are so neo-chic too.
And homemade ice cream is something I ought to try eventually. I’ve heard that the quicker it freezes, the smoother the ice cream is – one of these days, I’m just going to smuggle some liquid nitrogen from the lab.

oh you must try, homemade icecream beats any store-bought kind by a long shot! lucky for me I have an icecream maker, which makes things easy (basically a container that you keep in the freezer until you want to make icecream, and then you just throw everything in and stir).
and although I guess faster crystallization does technically give smaller crystal size, I’ve never really noticed; my focus on creamy goodness always tends to blot out my thoughts of physical chemistry. 🙂
