I’m now back from a few weeks of traveling–to Anchorage for M & Z’s wedding, Toronto (incl. a trip to Niagara Falls) and Fredericton to see friends and family, and finally Albany to complete the swearing-in for admission to the NY bar (and gain the pompous title “Esquire“).
my trip to Alaska coincidentally coincided with Governor Palin’s “dead fish” resignation speech (though this sign was prominently displayed in downtown Anchorage before her surprise announcement):

And if you thought Palin’s resignation speech was incomprehensible, it was nothing compared to her farewell this past weekend: though it might be easier to understand through William Shatner’s interpretation.

good article in newsweek about the changing attitudes in iran today (also accompanied by photos the journalist took of random different people, to show a cross-section of the population).

my frustration with comment spam + my newly found free time = my decision to make the switch to wordpress.
pretty swanky, but a pain to transfer all my photos… slowly chugging through but it will be awhile before all the old photos properly show up.
my old blog can still be accessed here.

yo.
in oslo on holiday before heading to hanoi. the city is quite walkable (small, with a population of about half a million), pretty, and yes, cold (ok, maybe I’m just complaining, but it’s about 15 degrees here).

the tram
can you imagine actually having civilized public transportation? get this: stops for both trams and buses have signs indicating how many minutes until the next one arrives. amazing! and unfathomable in canada.

…and the city bike idea is great. buy a yearly pass and pick up/drop off bikes around the city as you please.
